About Laura Curtis
Laura Curtis, originally from Sisters, Oregon, carries on the tradition of emotive song writing rooted deeply in the folk, Americana music she grew up listening to. Laura had immense opportunities as a student of the Americana Project, the educational outreach program of the Sisters Folk Festival. She has worked with and been mentored by women songwriters in the folk tradition, including Meg Hutchinson, Susan Werner and Ruthie Foster.
After graduating from Willamette University with a degree in Politics and Women and Gender Studies, Laura went to work for the Oregon State Legislature as the Chief of Staff to a sitting State Senator. After a brief stint in the world of politics she decided to change the path of her career from politics back to music.
Laura now lives in Portland, Oregon.
